Overview
Born in 2007, Housesimple was one of the first UK online estate agents, offering a lower-cost alternative to traditional high-street agents. Although they had innovative beginnings, the business was struggling to grow amongst a wave of new entrants in the market. To turn things around, Housesimple didn’t need a new logo, it needed a brand proposition overhaul.
Role
As creative director, I led a multi-disciplinary team of researchers, strategists and designers through a rapid innovation process to create and craft a new name, proposition, brand and digital experience in 6 weeks.
The whitespace
The function of an estate agency hadn’t evolved in 200 years, even if the formats they use have. With an industry stuck in its ways, we felt people have been overcharged and undervalued for far too long. Leaving us asking, what if we do what no one else wants to and let customers sell their home for free?
The purpose
We created a customer-led revolt against the status quo of house-selling, crossing a line through everything that’s broken about the industry (including the fees). Driven by a belief that things need to change, this new brand was proud to push back against industry jargon, rigid processes and unfair fees.
The brand
We built a bold identity that swims against the sea of sameness, providing a refreshing upset to the property industry. With an empowering new name and counterculture spirit that pushes against industry clichés. Brought to life with a visual language that crosses out the problems and celebrates the feeling of fee-free selling.

The result
Strike helped 15,000 people move home in 2021 alone and sold over £5bn worth of property in total.

Launched in July 2020, our work immediately and significantly increased market share, customer engagement and employee satisfaction, whilst decreasing cost per acquisition to an all time low.

Over the next 3 years, Strike became the 2nd biggest agent in the UK with 50% year-on-year growth, and in 2023, acquired the market leader Purplebricks for £1.
