Branding
Overview
Dow Jones has pioneered the financial news industry since 1882, launching The Wall Street Journal. The business prides itself on the quality and relevance of its content, the calibre of its people and the world-class service they provide their customers.

However, their traditional and print-based branding did not reflect this and was limiting the growth of the business in an
increasingly digital world.
Role
As lead designer, I worked in a small team for 12 months to jumpstart their journey towards a data-powered future with a global rebrand. Delivering a top to bottom rebuild of their brand world, from the big mission to the detailed visual execution.
The brand
A progressive approach that took the brand away from the old fashioned cues of newspapers and print, with a modern identity that reinvented not only the look and feel, but the entire mindset of the business.
The launch
In 2015, at their global sales conference, we unveiled the new brand to an applauding room of 400 staff. Followed with 2 days of inspiring talks, activation sessions and future strategy seminars that helped to bring the brand to life and ensure their regional leaders were excited about this new future.
The result
The rebrand was warmly welcomed by the business – rolled out across 72 offices and hundreds of their product dashboards.

Our new approach, combined with Dow Jones’ already innovative and collaborative spirit, set the path towards an exciting future – for both customer and employee.

“Our brand now fully captures our exciting future. We are now able to confidently embrace the opportunities we have ahead, and stand before our customers and say we can deliver this in a way that perhaps we couldn’t before”

William Lewis, Dow Jones CEO
